This Web 2.0 piece of workplace suicide has been doing the rounds, I found it at the Employee Factor.
1. Man is offered a job with Cisco ponders whether to take it…

2. And by doing so potentially ruins his prospects there…

D’oh!

The person who made the original tweet gives his side of the story here. This could of course just be damage limitation, but he does make the valid point that he posted what he claimed to be a sarcastic remark that would be understood by his circle of twitter followers without thinking that it might be seen by others and taken more literally.
Even so, the lesson remains: never say anything on a public forum you don’t want to be attributed to you under its literal meaning.
I wonder if this will have a chilling effect on some bits of Twitter??
In any event what a spectacularly MONGIE thing to have done – so much so that my toes are curling at frankly anatomically impossible angles….!
